First-time homebuyers are increasingly struggling with the idea of homeownership in such a hot market. It’s no surprise that nearly half of Canadians want to see a national housing strategy to help them reach their goals.
“While we wait for a nationally and municipally supported housing strategy based on an aggressive goal to boost our national inventory of affordable housing, there are regions across the country, especially in Western Canada, that remain accessible to first-time buyers looking to break into the market,” says Elton Ash, Regional Executive Vice President, RE/MAX Canada.
Our recent Housing Affordability Report dove into those areas. With average selling prices just over $300k in St. John’s and below $350K in Winnipeg and Regina, there’s still a lot to discover from coast to coast.
